Hello everybody!

It's time to get the site up and running again as we approach the coming season.

Chatterbox

Pre-season Friendly

As last year we are going to hold a friendly pre-season match between a Stockport Quiz league team and a Withquiz Team.

It'll be 6-a-side and will be played at the Albert Club on Wednesday September 10th starting at about 8.30pm.

As last year we will have half of the evening given over to Stockport-style rounds and half to Withquiz-style rounds.

I have already set the Withquiz questions and will act as host and QM.

I suggest that each of Withquiz's 11 teams nominate a team member for the league side.  Assuming we get more than 6 we will have subs at half-time to ensure everybody gets a game.

Of course spectators are very welcome.

I will email team captains with these details.

Please get back to me with your nominees.

2008-09 WithQuiz Season - The Teams & Venues

Unless I hear otherwise I will assume your team is entering the fray for the new season.

At the time of going to press we have no new teams and no retiring teams.

There is, however, one name change.  The Albert Park are to be known as the Getaways.

There's also one venue change.  The Electric Pigs are returning to the Fletcher Moss.

2008-09 WithQuiz Season - The Fixtures

The fixtures are now on the site.

If there are any further changes (new teams/name changes/etc.) then I will update the fixture list before the first matches.

You will see that we start the season on Wednesday October 8th and I note that we have matches on both November 5th and April 1st to look forward to this season - theme-setters get busy.

Both Gary and I are indebted to Ethel Rodin's Roddy this year for producing the fixture list.  He has managed what we singularly failed to achieve last year - a formula whereby matches in the second half of the season use papers set by different setters from those that set in the same matches in the first half of the season.

Roddy's also programmed his list so that where 2 teams share a home venue (Ethel & the Charabancs and the Pigs & Albert) they don't both play at home on any of the evenings.  Many thanks, Roddy!
