St Caths beat the Braggarts to go top

Results & Match Reports

Top of the table clash this week saw St Caths beat the Braggarts down at St Catherine's Club ('we were well and truly stuffed' according to Kieran).  St Caths now go clear at the top.  The Historymen draw level with the Braggarts in second place after beating the Pigs at the Red.

Other results this week:

  • Opsimaths stagger back to form beating the Albert Park in the local derby at the Albert Club.  This leaves the Albert Club derby (the world famous Raven Ale trophy) standing at 6 wins for the Opsimaths against 4 for the Park

  • Snoopy's score a massive 48 points (is this a record this season?) in beating the Brains at the Oak - Snoopy's now lie 4th in the table

  • TUFKAC seem to be making a habit of it! They tied for the second week running - away at SWMCC this time

Quiz Paper Verdict

This week the paper was set by Dr O'Neil.  Tony from Snoopy's (like ourselves) wondered what was fishy about Witchwood and/or John Buchan (Round 5 Question 3) - but, this apart, general feeling was that it was a pretty fair paper.  Certainly the scores seemed fairly high (top 30s to top 40s) which is always a good sign.  There was a great debate in our match as to the actual nature of Imnophobia (Round 3 Question 6).  Are you able to distinguish a lake from an inland sea ('No problems with the Caspian, guv, but don't let me near that Windermere').  Are ponds and puddles a problem?  What about about salt water lakes?  Is this just a quiz question and there are no actual Imnophobiacs around?  I feel we need to be told.

The Question of the Week

My 'tip-of-the-tongue' question of the week is (Round 4 Question 5):

What is the chief port of the US state of Alabama?
