Results & Match Reports

X-Pats lost in a close fought match to Snoopy's Friends,

St Caths suffered an uncharacteristically heavy home defeat to FCEK,

Electric Pigs just failed to punch sufficiently above their weight to unseat the the Fingers,

History Men hammered the chart bottoming Opsimaths,

and Ethel Rodin eased past close rivals, the Albert, whose late season surge has now been halted.

Quiz Paper Verdict

The paper this week was set by the Albert Park.  My first reaction was a bit negative but it was clearly not an Opsimaths sort of paper (just check out our lamentable result).  Our opponents, the History Men, liked it and, judging from the results emails, most of you found it to your taste.  Kieran felt that it was in the true Park tradition keeping their reputation as one of the best setting teams in the league intact.  A few gripes about the pop music bias early on (in particular from Mike Heale) - and I was a bit miffed to find that the word 'cheese' was dragged into bakery via the idea of cheesecake - but there you are.  Good news for the Welsh though!  Rhodri Morgan is a world leader.

Thank you Park for a good evening!

The Question of the Week

This week the coveted QotW award has been nominated by FCEK - and they've (predictably) gone for Round 1 Question 6:

Which ex-US politician's name is an anagram of 'Grow a penis?

FRIENDS

I have been in touch with Tony who has completed his chore of reforming the British judicial system and is preparing for his return to the more arduous task of steering Snoopy's clear of ignominy (currently, I have to say, the firm preserve of the 'opeless Opsimaths).  Inter alia (and indeed passim) he gently chides me for being a tad too harsh in my remarks on last week's paper prepared by the relative newcomers who have been ably keeping the Friends afloat in Tony's absence.  He makes a fair point.  It is all too easy to forget the enormous extra effort put in throughout the season by the setting team.  Mea culpa.  I can assure him that nolle prosequi will be my policy hereon in.

So you have been warned....Here come de Judge (again)!!

EGGHEADS

No news yet from the Beeb as to recording dates down in London for our teams.  This means, either that we have not passed the beauty parade (surely brainpower can not be in doubt?), or that the Beeb operate on a last minute panic basis.  Any road up I will keep you informed.
