X-Pats got back to their winning ways against St Caths.

FCEK used the Mad Dogs' week off to good effect by beating the Opsimaths and getting back on level terms at the top.  What's more FCEK were without Fr M who is vacating somewhere in Erin.  In his place they were able to field the latest product of their Quiz Youth policy, 21 year old Charles Dennison.

Snoopy's Friends lost at home to Ethel Rodin even though Tony sat in judgement as QM!

Electric Pigs lost at home to the History Men despite Ivor deciding that CS gas had narcotic effects and therefore, that CS Forrester must have written an autobiographical novel called Maurice.

Albert Park fell at home to high-flying Albert.

Quiz Paper Verdict

This week the paper came from the Mad Dogs.  "Excellent quiz all round" was X-Pat John's verdict.  A number of favourable mentions for the narcotics round in particular - with a few individual questions attracting positive comment as well.

Personally I found the paper fine, but a little quirky.  I doubt if anybody in the history of the world has ever thought of trying to rank Chile, Ghana and Romania in terms of population.  Why, and why these 3?  There's trivial and then there's really totally useless when it comes to classifying information!  Although I liked the narcotics theme I was a bit unhappy to see that one of EM Forster's initials qualified him for the round when Karl Popper had to donate his entire surname.  Just niggles though, Kieran.  It really was a most enjoyable evening at the Swan.

The Question of the Week

The vote this week goes to Round 8 Q1 :

On this day 73 years ago, a deranged, unemployed bricklayer named Giuseppe Zangara shouted "Too many people are starving".  What did he do next?
