Results & Match Reports

Mad Dog" Dillon has reminded me that we are fast approaching the season's denouement.  Next week (March 1st) the Mad Dogs play the History Men at the Griffin, followed the week after by FCEK away at the Swan.  Then the week after that FCEK toddle off to the Red to face up to the History Men (their nemesis earlier in the campaign).  By midnight on March 15th the fate of the title may well be sealed.  Watch this space!!

A depleted X-Pats were beaten by the rampant Mad Dogs who notched up 55 points - the highest score yet this season

Albert lost to Electric Pigs

Albert Park lost to Ethel Rodin

FCEK just beat St Caths by a single point at the White Swan

History Men beat the Opsimaths in a crowded and football-frenzied Red Lion

Quiz Paper Verdict

This week the paper came from Snoopy's Friends.  Snoopy's often get a mixed reaction to their papers.  This time, however, they have gone all populist.  High scores and scarce a word agin.  To sum up over again to Kieran:

Excellent quiz.  Total of 90 points scored (record aggregate?) and, since X-Pats only had three players, the maximum possible was only 120.  My heart sank when we started on the underground stations round but actually it was very well crafted.  Indeed the whole quiz was well put together and the evening was thoroughly enjoyable.  Only slight criticism would be that it was a tad lazy to set a whole round on years from the 60s - but that's a minor quibble.

Question of the week has to be the Robin Williams one about Good Morning Vietnam.  I had never heard that word before and certainly won't attempt to spell it here, but definitely a show stopper.  "I could have been a judge but I didn't have the Latin....."

Well done Snoopy's

The Question of the Week

The vote this week (see Kieran's comments above) goes to Round 6 Q6 :

This fast-talking US film actor was born in Illinois in 1951.  He has starred in many films including: Goodwill Hunting, Patch Adams, Hook and Flubber.  His matutinal call is the title of what is probably his best motion picture.

Who is he?
