The season came to a suitably jolly conclusion with the usual presentation evening at the Albert Club.  Trophies were awarded, memories swapped, great feats of setting, as well as of solving, were celebrated - and all to the background of a light-hearted quiz which unashamedly took our league, its teams and its folklore as the backdrop.

During the evening there was a vote for the WithQuiz Question of the Season from a menu of the questions chosen  by website correspondents as their Questions of the Week.

The most popular Questions turned out to be:

...and so Snoopy's duly walked off with the bottles of wine for producing the most popular Question of the Season.

As reported last week the prize for the best round in the 'Knocked Out United' paper used in the Cup Finals went to the Charabancs for their Football Grounds themed round.  Gerry collected the wine and chocolates on behalf of his team.

As for the actual quiz on the evening the honours went to History Friends (a joint team made up of History Men and Snoopy's Friends).  In second place (for a change) were SPW, and in third, Ethel Rodin.

Tony handed down the main sentences of the evening presenting the WithQuiz Plate (to the Opsimaths) and the Val Draper Cup and League Shield (both to SPW).

Many thanks to Andrew (as ever) for helping out with the logistics on the evening - and for taking the photos, a selection of which can be viewed by clicking here.

Meanwhile in another galaxy the 2 finalists of the WIST Champion's Cup, the Tiviot and Chunky, were slugging it out to see which was the best team in the whole of the South Manchester and Stockport area.  True to form Chunky won thus earning the title of WIST Champions for the second year running.  The paper for this final looks pretty good to me.  You can inspect for yourself by clicking here.

That's it for another season.  Have a good summer and do let me know of any team name or venue changes well in advance of next season (The Getaways have already announced that they wish to be known as The Prodigals next year and will be returning to the Albert Club as their home venue).

The website will now go to sleep until late September.  Au Revoir!!
