We're back....well sort of.

This evening we entertained the Stockport League Select VI to a friendly pre-season match at the Albert Club.  Our own Select VI (Tony, Gerry Collins, Ivor, Anne-Marie, Damian and Nick) raced to a commanding 20 point lead at half time (on the Stockport-format rounds) only to be pegged back in the second half (on the WithQuiz-format rounds), squeaking home by a mere 4 points 58 - 54.

Stockport gracefiully yielded up the WIST Cup which they have held for the past 3 years vowing to have it back next September.  If you wish to see the cup it'll be on display in the trophy cabinet at the Albert Club until late summer next year when it will get mysteriously lost.

Here you see our victorious 6 somewhat the worse for wear shortly after the final whistle.

It seems likely that our league matches will get underway on Wednesday October 6th.  Please can you all scout around to see if there are any new teams who would like to join us.  I will take Thursday September 30th as the deadline for applications and resignations.  Unless I hear otherwise I will assume the teams are as last year with the single exception being that the Bards have moved their home venue to Didsbury Cricket Club on Wilmslow Road.
