End of Season Evening | ||||||||||||||||
We laid the season to rest in the usual way with an end of season quiz-cum-presentation evening at the Albert Club. SPW's Kieran Dillon (assisted by Historyman Ivor Cartmill) did the honours presenting the silverware and assorted gongs at the halfway mark. Kieran delivered a thorough and enthusiastic summary of the season. His enthusing reached fever pitch when describing Fr Megson's chef d'oeuvre which launched the Ladybarn 'European Suburb of Culture' programme in March this year. If you haven't already read Waiting for Biffo you are really missing a treat and you should follow the hyperlink immediately. The clear winners of the evening's quiz were The Bards, with Ethel Rodin second, and a tie for third place between The Prodigals, SPW and The Historymen. The tie breaker ("What is the 100th prime number?") elicited a variety of wild guesses (27,001 - The Historymen; 3,811 - The Prodigals; 1,959 - SPW) . The actual answer is 541 so SPW duly clinched third place.
During the evening teams
voted for the 'Question of the Season', the results being:

Finally we resolved to start the 2011/12
season a tad earlier so that we can round things off mid May 2012 rather
than early June as has been the case this year. On which subject the WithQuiz v Stockport League pre-season friendly is already fixed for
Monday September 19th so it would seem reasonable to start League
matches on Wednesday September 21st. The website will now aestivate but
expect to see something stirring early in September.
