Another Season closes

We laid the season to rest in the usual way with an end of season quiz-cum-presentation evening at the Albert Club.  Anne-Marie did the honours on behalf of the Prodigals summing up the season and presenting the silverware and assorted gongs at the halfway mark.  She started on a sombre note by asking all to remember friends we'd lost during the season - which turned out to to be The Stadium of Murk a.k.a The White Swan - and then she went on to welcome the Turnpike which is fast becoming everybody's favourite quiz venue.

The clear winners of the evening's quiz were Ethel Rodin, with I Blame Smoke Fairies coming second, The Prodigals third and The Electric Pigs fourth.  The 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' picture of Damian was spotted first by The Prodigals (well Cheryl to be specific) and The Pigs won 'The Question They Couldn't Hang' prize by knowing that Sarah Monatgue was....well....Sarah Montague.

During the evening teams voted for the 'Question of the Season', the results being:
  Team Question Answer
1 Bards

Who was responsible for the Gateshead Flasher's Erection?

Anthony Gormley

(it's an affectionate local nickname for the Angel Of The North)

2 Charabancs In a rare moment of wit following the British royal family's decision to change its name, Kaiser Wilhelm suggested what new name for one of Shakespeare's plays? The Merry Wives Of Saxe Coburg Gotha
3 Charabancs What was the fate of the USS Phoenix which escaped being sunk at Pearl Harbour? It was sold to the Argentines and renamed The Belgrano only to be sunk in the Falkland War

....and if you can't bear the wait until the autumn to see everybody again here are some piccies taken during the evening.

Finally don't forget to come and support the Bards when they play Chunky at the Didsbury Cricket Club on Thursday May 17th (8.30pm) for the honour of being declared the WIST Champion team of 2012.
