After two years in the hands of the Smoke Fairies (a.k.a. SPW) Chunky win back the WIST Champions Cup for Stockport |
Results & Match Reports |
A cracking evening at the Cricket Club saw Chunky just nip in at the finish and beat our own Bards by 2 points. The lead switched to and fro throughout the evening and it was hard to predict how it would end. In the event (as has often happened in these games) the Stockport team fared slightly better on the WithQuiz style rounds whilst the WithQuiz team led on the Stockport style questions. Tony, Sarah, Steve and Jim were supported by a WithQuiz fan club of 7 but slipped up on Round 5 Question 7 - the crucial trucial question. Chunky nipped in with a 'pass over' bonus point and never looked back. |
Quiz Paper Verdict |
I Blame Smoke Fairies set the paper on behalf of WithQuiz and it was a good'un. With the Smoke Fairies/SPW so rarely being knocked out of our competitions over the years we have not often had the benefit of their setting skills in the later stages of the season. This year they just missed out on everything so were free to set. At the end it was clear what a good job they'd done from the praise heaped on the paper - and indeed the general standard of WithQuiz papers - by the Stockport crew. Chunky John (who used to play in our own Amboss team many moons ago) was particularly complimentary. |
The Question of the Week |
This week I'm going to ignore the recommendations of the two teams and go for the fun question at the end of the paper - Spares Question 8:

Chatterbox |
If you can't stand being quizless for 4 months or so then there's always the Albert Club monthly quizzes - the slightly less intense one is on the third Sunday of each month whereas the toughie is always on the last Monday of the month. Both start at 8.30pm. If I don't see you there then au revoir until late September - and of course let me know of any new/retiring teams for next years' competition. Cheers.
