				WIST Pre-season Cup
				WithQuiz were outgunned in
the first half of Stockport-style rounds and never managed to
claw their way back as the Stockport Quiz
League notched up another convincing win to keep the WIST
Cup over the other side of the Mersey.  The final margin
				was 8 points.
				WithQuiz
skipper, Tony Hammond, and Stockport supremo, Mike Wagstaffe,
both made half time substitutions to ensure all who wanted got a
				game.

							 Quiz Paper Verdict |

The questioning rattled along at a reasonable pace and very few questions remained unanswered by either team - always a good sign.
				In a brand new departure
for WithQuiz evenings I introduced a music/sound round as Round
2 (the Stockport-style written round of 10 questions) using my
laptop linked by HDMI cable to the Club's widescreen TV in the
back lounge. I think the only slip up I made in the paper was in the 'Blockbuster' GIS question when I should have asked for the Conference Play-off losers in 2014 rather than this year. Mea culpa! I was just keen to to get a North East question in for Dave Barras who, in the event, wasn't present anyway. Hard luck to Stockport's Andrea who went all the way with the 'JTJYBNJT' question only to let 'tomorrow' slip out rather than 'today' as the final word - perhaps the WithQuiz team's only piece of good luck all evening. |

And so to the start of the League season on Wednesday September 30th (at 8.15pm hopefully!). All the fixtures are up on the Fixtures page. The Charas set for the first round of matches so it should be a cracking kick off (no pressure then, Gerry). See you all soon. |
