CONNECTING WALL
This type of round consists of 20 clues tagged 'A' to 'T' presented as a wall. The answers can be arranged into groups whereby each member of a group shares something in common (usually a word or part-word) with other members of the same group. There are usually 4 or 5 of these groups. The common factors to each group when taken together have an overall connection.
Points should be awarded for solving each clue, spotting each of the common words/part-words and finally for spotting the overall theme that links the shared words/part-words.
The 4 corners of the wall are always picture clues.
So for example if 5 of the answers happened to be:
Mark Hamill, the German Mark, Denmark, the Common Market and Alicia Markova
...and another set of answers were:
Carluke, lukewarm, liverfluke, Luke Shaw and Luke Goss
...the shared words would be Mark and Luke - and it would be likely that the there would be two other groups each of 5 answers with shared words/part-words of John and Matthew. The overall connection would, of course, be the 4 evangelists.
