"...the standard of questions was just about right; and with the use of the screen to display relevant and (occasionally) entertaining pictures most seemed happy with the evening's fare."
"We thoroughly enjoyed the variety and challenge of this paper. Announced themes, hidden themes, pairs and 'Pick Your Own' all on display to demonstrate the length and breadth of the WithQuiz game."
"A very good Piggies paper to start the season; only three unanswered questions and nothing too obscure."
"Popularity all round for Albert's paper with no quizzer going home empty-handed"
"Many thanks to the Albert for being almost as old and nerdish as we are"
"We really enjoyed this one. For the themed rounds the combination of a broad hint at the start of the round offered just the right level of assistance in unscrambling things."
"There were 12 unanswereds (rather high)"
"A very respectable average aggregate for a paper that truly upset the form book."
"Although it was not to my taste, having a bit too much music and science in it, the others seemed to find it OK "
"...nicely constructed effort full of craft and thoughtfulness with plenty of points on offer."
"It was a pointsfest with just the right amount of hinting in the question text for us to have a reasonable stab at every question."
"One of the best quizzes ever to come out of the Opsimaths' stable!"
"We normally do well on papers set by Dunkin' Dönitz and tonight proved no exception."
"...but two grumbles out of 64 questions says a good quiz to me."
"The paper itself did not find universal acclaim..."
A fairly low aggregate for this format of paper but perhaps the most intriguing feature was the wide range of aggregate scores from the various matches - from 98 points to 56!
The questions provided plenty of material to get stuck into.
"The paper was challenging, varied and generally interesting, though there were a few quibbles due to the phrasing of some of the questions."
"I thought it was a tough paper but there were some nice nuggets."
"This was a most enjoyable paper."
"A great showcase of the high standards of question-setting in the league these days..."
"Good ideas, well crafted and the right level of difficulty."
"Rather too much modern pop and film culture for our jaded tastes."
"An odd, but good, paper which produced twos, bonuses, unanswereds and conferreds evenly spread across all eight rounds....so it cannot be considered anything but a success."
"An excellent quiz that had something for everyone."
"Bumper points on offer in this 'Christmas present' of a quiz from the Bards."
"It was a good, solid paper with lots of interesting and challenging questions and plenty of variety."
"I think it's safe to say we found it a very challenging paper. The first half seemed to go on forever and we felt that some of the question pairs were very unbalanced"
"This was a tough quiz which had some enjoyable highlights"
"Well ahead of the season's average aggregate and clearly well-balanced with 2 ties and a 'last question' result."
"All in all an enjoyable quiz with a good variety of questions. The very few crap questions were paired with equally crap ones."
"A highly enjoyable paper created by the experts from the Moss."
"...generally very good Albert paper apart from the first round which had everyone just guessing."
"Somewhat of a toughie tonight...but full of interesting material and doing what our type of papers do best - that is display the interests and enthusiasms of the setters"
"...a far more enjoyable paper than the authors had led us to expect"
"A belting Shrimp paper which delivered in every way a Wednesday night quiz should."
"Great paper which stretched the brain cells to all parts."
"...another tour de force from Opsimath Brian which we all enjoyed despite one or two of the questions being a bit convoluted"
"It felt a bit scratchy and was nowhere near a pointsfest, but it produced a great contest"
"So interesting, varied and user-friendly was the fare on offer that even the Charabancs couldn't manage to convert the night's proceedings into a pig's ear"
"Some tidy, stimulating rounds here, the kind that teams can move through briskly and score well without ever feeling that their intelligence has been insulted."
"...there were too many questions where there was no way in ... and too many about esoteric minutiae."
"The paper was tough but generally fair. There were nine unanswered questions in all, but also a fair few two-pointers which indicates that it had a good range of subject matter with something to suit most of us."
"Perhaps a slightly lower average aggregate than might be expected"
"Personally I greatly enjoyed the large number of pop music questions and the Radio 4 comedy questions - what a treat!"
"Lots of variety, fun themes and enough of a challenge to keep us thinking while never slowing the pace down too much."
"Moderately hard quiz with some interesting themes...the rounds on film tag lines, on 'answering a question with a question' and Brexit were well received. We struggled, however, with the 21st century bingo rounds."
"...a paper that seemed patchy to me." "...moderately hard paper."
"A good idea to have a pop music round with different decades thus making it fairer for those of us who are shaky on post-70s music."
"...a generally enjoyable assortment of themes, pairs and various trivia."
"A very enjoyable contest on a paper possibly more accessible than the usual Bards' offerings."
...but (R5Q7) Mick McCarthy never managed City (surprising though it may seem)
"We all enjoyed the paper; it was a generally solid affair with plenty of variety ... as usual the run-ons round was a lot of fun!"
"A great paper on which to end the league programme"
"Well you can't argue about the level of the scoring....there were 8 straight twos in Round 1...not a bad way to kick off the evening."
"A wide spread of subject matter and questioning techniques..."
"...this was on the tough side but full of interesting flourishes - and a fair bit of wordiness"
"...a most enjoyable trip through the highways and byways of the collective Chara noddle!"
"The score suggests that there were plenty of points on offer and, in fairness most of the obscure questions came with clues to aid deliberation."
"Overall it was an interesting quiz with a very exciting finish - and the Tiebreaker questions were excellent!"
"Greg gave us a super points-fest of a paper which was much enjoyed by all."
"The themes were relatively easy to cotton on to and offered real assistance in getting the answers to the later questions."
"A great wealth of question styles and subject matter covered in this paper which proved to be somewhat of a marathon."
"...there was much to interest and intrigue..."
